The  DRCM  technology is a controlled  release
system designed  to  deliver drug  content  at 
a   constant  rate, independent of  Gastric
cycles and Gastro-intestinal pH. The  Diffusion  Rate Controlling
  Membrance (DRCM) technology is employed for acidic &
neutral compounds while for basic compounds this is combined
with a pH activated disintegrated mechanism.
Using  the  novel  state-of-the-art  Diffusion
 Rate Controlling   Membrance   Technology 
 (DRCM),  the  Controlled   Release 
products  are  manufactured. This consists of   pellets
  programmed   to deliver  the  drug
steadily   over    24    hours,   thus   ensuring     desired therapeutic
effect with minimum side effects.
The  DRCM   systems   differs  from
 other  forms   of Sustained Release Systems.
It consists of :
i) Multiple Unit Dosage Forms (MUDFs) as compared to  the  single
UNIT  dosage  form  of the  SR  systems (Tablets)
ii)The DRCM  systems  is  independent of the Stomach
Emptying and G. I. Tract Transit Time.
iii)It  is  autonomous  of  the  external
 environment  into which the active agent is released
& it is independent of the pH of the environment in which
it is realeased.
Diffusion    Rate   Controlling   Membrance
   (DRCM) Technology  is employed in designing
pellet formulations of  all acidic and  most 
 neutral compounds. Release of such  compounds
in the stomach  and the upper part of the  small  
intestine   can  be  controlled  by  a 
suitable  combination  of  coating  substances
used as a dialysing external membrance.  In  case of
acidic compounds the rate  of release  in the  stomach 
(where irritation could take place) will be minimised to almost
NIL. However, by   moving   pellets   out
 of    the  stomach   into   pH
environment  of  6 or more(in small  intestine)  diffusion
process  will take place and drug will release at the rate
it was designed for.
